WhatsApp’s messaging features need no introduction. They are used by millions around the world and support for linked devices has made WhatsApp chat features accessible to more people than ever before. However, the app’s calling features haven’t been as easily accessible. That could change soon.

A new report from WABetaInfo suggests that WhatsApp desktop clients will soon have a dedicated “Calls” tab. Similar to how the “Calls” tab works in the mobile app, the tab will offer access to call logs, as well as an easier way to quickly reach frequent contacts.

While calling support has been around in desktop clients for a while, it was missing a dedicated tab like the one used in mobile apps. The new addition, which is still in beta, fixes that.

WhatsApp for Desktop Beta users who have updated to version 2.2240.1.0 should get the “Calls” tab with the update. However, it remains to be seen when the feature will reach stable users. This could take anywhere from weeks to months.

In other news, the WhatsApp smartphone app recently got the long-awaited support for the Communities feature. The organizing feature helps admins to handle multiple groups in a much more efficient way and makes posting more convenient.
